Senior Accountant – Join a Growing, Independent Practice Where Your Work Truly Matters
Are you a Senior Accountant looking for more than just a job? Do you want to work somewhere your expertise is valued, your opinions are heard, and you can see the tangible impact of your work?
We’re working with a highly regarded independent practice, established for over 35 years, with a 23-strong team and a client base of around 1,200–1,400 businesses. The firm has built its reputation on delivering personal, high-quality service and is proud to remain independent in a market where consolidation and corporate acquisitions are the norm.
Why this role is different:
-
Variety & Challenge: Work across a broad client base from sole traders to partnerships, limited companies, charities, and not-for-profits. Handle management accounts, tax planning, and statutory reporting, all while mentoring junior team members.
-
Team Culture: The firm prioritises collaboration and long-term growth. It’s not a dictatorial environment, everyone’s voice matters, and staff are supported to develop their careers.
-
Flexibility That Works: Fully office-based role with flexible hours that start between 8:00 and 9:30, 37.5-hour week, and every second Friday afternoon off.
Who we’re looking for:
-
Senior Accountants with at least 5+ years’ practice experience.
-
A “can-do” all-rounder comfortable with multiple responsibilities - from client management to team mentoring.
-
Professionals who are passionate about client service, enjoy leading teams, and want to be part of a practice that values independence, accountability, and personal impact.
The role:
-
Prepare and oversee accounts for a variety of clients
-
Oversee bookkeeping and junior staff work
-
Handle all areas of tax including Corporation, Income, Capital Gains, VAT, CIS, and PAYE
-
Liaise directly with HMRC and clients, including face-to-face meetings
-
Support practice promotion via networking and LinkedIn activity
-
Take ownership of projects and contribute to the firm’s ongoing growth
